Alicia

Alicia has loved dance and movement exploration since she was a child. Alicia studied jazz, lyrical, ballet and contemporary dance throughout her adolescent years and throughout college. Wanting to continue dancing as an adult, she came to The Girl Spot in 2012 for a party and never left! She eventually became a teacher of pole levels 1-4 and completed her ElevatED pole training in 2014. She has competed several times in PSO, winning silver and gold medals. More than competing, Alicia’s greatest love is creating choreography and performing with students. She is also an active student of yoga and barre and incorporates these movement styles into her classes. With a strong technical dance and pole fitness background, Alicia places an emphasis on technique and alignment in all her classes to keep students safe. She believes everyone can learn to enjoy dance by developing their own style through movement exploration and learning to connect moves on and off the pole.

Marisa

From an early age, Marisa has spent most of her free time in the gym, hiking, gardening, and doing Yoga. She has a profound love for the outdoors and all living creatures. As a working mother of two, Marisa longed for a new hobby, just for her, that would challenge her both mentally and physically. In 2018 she discovered the art of pole dance and was enchanted by the beauty, strength and grace of the dancers. Soon after, she signed up for her first pole class at The Girl Spot and has been hooked ever since. Marisa quickly moved up through the levels, fueled by a strong passion for the sport. By the end of 2020 she began taking advanced level classes and training as an instructor. Marisa now teaches a variety of classes and enjoys sharing her passion for Pole Dance/Fitness in the classroom and on the stage. Seeing the joy her students experience when they successfully execute a new skill is one of Marisa's favorites parts about teaching. She hopes to continue empowering her students through a mutual love for dance.

Christine

Christine has been Pole Dancing for over 11 years and has been an instructor for over 8 years, stating that Pole Dancing taught her body awareness and gave her confidence. She has competed in multiple competitions, medaling at PSO Northeast. Christine has performed in many shows and taught Chair Dance at CCSU. She consistently attends workshops with her favorite Pole Dancers including Alethea Austin and Felix Cane. Being drawn to the sexy side of Pole, she loves to find and create shapes with the body and celebrates all sizes encouraging the same confidence that she was able to find.

Gabby

From the moment she could walk (literally!), Gabby has been dancing.  Enrolled in ballet, tap, and jazz, along with gymnastics and cheerleading at a very young age, she developed her appreciation and passion for movement early on. Dance has been a constant in her life, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.  She discovered The Girl Spot in 2012, and thought to herself “Finally, something I can actually do as an adult!!!!!” She became instantly hooked! It didn’t take long before she had fully immersed herself into the sport of pole and began apprenticing to teach and training to compete. Almost 10 years later, she has many years of teaching under her belt and several gold medals! Gabby wrote an assignment as a child that asked her to describe herself-” My mom says I spend more time upside-down than I do right-side up!” Find Gabby in her famous vacation pose, doing handstands, from the coastline of Kennebunkport, Maine to the shores of Juneau, Alaska (and everywhere in between)!

Adrian

Adrian started pole dancing at The Girl Spot in 2019 and quickly excelled; winning a medal at Pole Sport Organization’s 2021 Northeast Competition. Though Adrian’s pole journey began not too long ago, his experience with dance & movement stems back much further. Inspired by his years of participating in hip-hop, yoga, and musical theater lessons, Adrian continues to broaden his performance approach by attending various dance & acrobatic workshops. He seeks to capture both audiences & participants in the exercise of dance to convey more than meets the eye. He believes, “if you can even imagine the semblance of a sound, then there’s a movement to be felt and story to be told.”

Kat

Katherine is currently the manager of The Girl Spot - you can always catch her on our social media pages!  She began studying dance at the age of 4 and has been dancing ever since. Growing up Katherine studied ballet, jazz, modern, pointe, hip hop, tap and African dance. Katherine continued to study dance at Elon University. While at Elon she earned her degree in Elementary Education. Katherine found The Girl Spot in 2013 and has been hooked since day 1.  After taking tons of pole and fly gym classes, she combined her love of dancing and education and became an instructor!   She has been teaching at The Girl Spot since 2015. She currently holds certifications in both Fly Gym and Zumbini.  She loves to teach beginner classes and watch students blossom throughout their pole journey. Her favorite part of teaching is helping students find their confidence and bring some extra joy into their lives through movement.

Kerry

Kerry took her first pole dancing lesson as part of a bachelorette party in 2014. She thought it would be a fun thing to try once, but she was hooked! She found The Girl Spot in 2015 and has been an instructor since 2019. During this time, she has explored pole, lyra, silks, and aerial hammock, and says “This is my favorite way to work out!” Pole dancing has made her feel stronger, more graceful (most of the time!), and much more confident. This confidence has driven her to compete in several pole competitions and one lyra competition. When she’s not dancing, Kerry can be found teaching middle school science. She loves that now as an instructor she can merge two of her passions: teaching and dance!

Lisa

Lisa began studying varying dance disciplines at the age of 3, continuing through college. In early 2016 a coworker introduced her to pole dancing at The Girl Spot and she was immediately hooked. Since then, she has trained with a multitude of professionals to further her pole education and is currently working to obtain her Liquid Motion Level 1 certification. She is a firm believer that exercise should be FUN, and laughter is great for your abs. During the day she works to supply the film and theater industries with products needed for the show to go on and at night you can find her at the studio training and teaching pole from low flow to life upside down, and flips.

Amanda

Amanda always had a passion for music and dance, so her parents enrolled her in dance at the age of five. She danced competitively in tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, and pointe. Placing in the top 10 at Nationals with her dance team. She also attended the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven. This introduced her to other styles of dance such as Hip Hop, African Dance, Contemporary, Salsa, Swing, the Waltz and so much more. Amanda was introduced to Pole Dancing in 2021, as part of her bachelorette party. A year later she found The Girl Spot and started her pole journey. She fell in love with the sport and found that there were fun ways to incorporate her previous dance experience. Since then, Amanda couldn't wait to share her passion for dance at the studio and to help students find expression through movement to the music.

Kristie

Kristie’s journey into dance began at the age of two, where she instantly developed her love for performing. After over eight years of enjoying ballet, tap & jazz, she transitioned to competitive cheerleading. After college, Kristie sought a fitness routine that would combine her love for dance with the challenge of pushing her physical limits. In 2014, she discovered The Girl Spot through a childhood friend (and fellow instructor Kat) and was instantly captivated. For Kristie, pole fitness not only provided a physical challenge but also offered a mental escape—a place where she could quiet the noise of everyday life and truly connect with herself. Kristie has been teaching pole dance since 2015, and her positive energy and encouraging enthusiasm will inspire you to let go and be free.

Ali

Ali has always had a passion for health and wellness. Her background is in nutrition and movement therapy. Ali received her Yoga Certification in 2012. In 2016 she discovered the aerial world and never looked back! Since then, she has added an Aerial Yoga Certification to her list of accomplishments. She has held this certification for the past 6 years. She loves to share the gift of movement whether it’s on the mat, in the air, or on a pole!
